We're halfway through fight week as Israel Adesanya looks to defend his belt against the juggernaut that is Paulo Costa this Saturday, 26th September.
Nigerian-born Adesanya has been putting his high calibre kickboxing resume to task in the octagon, with wins over some of the divisions most deft strikers.
Attaining the UFC Middleweight Champion title making short work of Robert Whittaker in a 2nd round TKO, Adesanya holds wins over UFC legend Anderson Silva and FOTY accolade from UFC President Dana White himself after a gruelling 5-round battle with Kelvin Gastelum.
Whilst the initial matching with Paulo Costa was scheduled to take place before the Brazillian native sustained a bicep injury, Adesanya decided to take a fight against equally imposing Yoel Romero with no real advantage in doing so.
"Solider of God" Romero's showdown with Paulo Costa demonstrated how monstrous the two men can be in the octagon. Adesanya's outing with Romero showed heed in a much more conservative approach from "The Last Stylebender", earning himself a decision win.
Israel Adesanya's bout with Paulo Costa is a long awaited contest for UFC fans in a main event that follows the light heavyweight Champion-decider between Dominic Reyes and Polish powerhouse Jan Blachowicz.
