Max Holloway, former UFC Featherweight Champion, cemented his place in the number 1 contender spot on Saturday night after landing 445 significant strikes against Calvin Kattar at the Etihad Arena on Fight Island in Dubia.
Kattar, ranked #6 in the division, comes off back-to-back wins over Dan Ige and Jeremy Stephens in 2020.
Holloway, setting the bar high in his striking and volume, put on a blistering performance that might've been more one-sided than that that was seen against Brian Ortega.
Successive elbows left Kattar flustered midway through the bout, along with strikes to the body - faking straights to the head, along with high kicks and unsurprisingly, not the kitchen sink.
Holloway's high volume essentially steam rolled Kattar who was able to land some crisp shots of his own, but not nearly enough to outdo the Hawaii native.
Taking time to address himself as "the best boxer in the UFC" to Dan Hardy, Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik on commentary before delivering a no-look straight right to Kattar followed him slipping shots and were textbook Holloway antics.
Kattar's durability carried him through a five round onslaught but ultimately there was little to answer with once the Max's wheels set in motion.
